Blessings and Gratitude
In taking a moment to pause and reflect, I’m reminded of the many blessings that fill our days here at the Centre. Each smile, each milestone, and each small act of kindness reminds us why we do what we do. The laughter of children, the dedication of our educators, and the trust of our families are daily gifts that make our community so special.
Gratitude is at the heart of our practice. We are grateful for the opportunity to nurture young minds, to share in the wonder of learning, and to walk alongside families during such an important chapter in their children’s lives. Each day brings new moments of joy, connection, and growth. We are truly blessed to experience them together.
As we move into the final part of the year, may we all take time to notice and celebrate the little blessings around us. Thank you for being part of our extended family and for the warmth, encouragement, and partnership you bring to our learning community.
James 1:17 says 'Every good and perfect gift comes from God.'

CCC Enrolment Incentive

ENROL FOR 2026 // At CCC, we prepare students for God’s world and His future by building a strong foundation for faith, learning, and life. When our families feel supported and cared for, they naturally want to share their experience with others, and now, there’s even more reason to spread the word!
For 2026, if you recommend a family to CCC and they enrol, both families will receive $500 off 2026 tuition fees (T&Cs apply). Help us share the love and invite more families into our CCC community.

Water Play
With the hot weather upon us as we lead into spring, we’ll be offering water play from time to time to help the children cool down and have some fun!
As it may happen on warmer days without much notice, we kindly ask that you keep the following items in your child’s bag at all times:
A sun-safe hat
Sun-safe clothing or swimmers
We’ll provide sunscreen (Please let us know if your child requires a specific sunscreen)
A towel
Having these items packed and ready means your child won’t miss out when water play pops up! Thanks for helping us keep playtime safe and enjoyable!
Little Arrows in Recess

As the colder months bring sniffles and seasonal bugs, Little Arrows will take a short break over the winter period. We’re planning to ease back into things with a couple of informal playdates in Spring, once the weather is warmer and little ones are feeling better.
Any special College events will be shared via email so you can still stay connected and join us if you wish. Thank you for your ongoing support of Little Arrows. We look forward to gathering again soon — happy, healthy, and ready to play!
Items to bring every day

Lost and Found
Please take a moment to check the lost and found table in the ELC foyer. We’ve had a number of items turn up recently, and we’d love to see them returned to their rightful owners. Thank you!
Health Reminder – Term 4
As we begin Term 4, we remind families that illness can still be present in our community. Please keep your child at home if they are unwell and remember to mark them as absent in Xplor.
You’ll find a helpful poster below outlining the required and recommended exclusion periods for common illnesses and infectious conditions.
Thank you for helping us keep everyone healthy!

Volunteer Update – Important
We love having volunteers as part of the life of CCC and thank everyone who has supported a camp, excursion or class activity over the years.
Due to recent amendments to Queensland’s legislation, CCC is updating its volunteer screening process: all volunteers must now complete the new application form and associated training before undertaking any volunteer duties. In addition, any person volunteering in child-related roles will be required to hold a valid Working With Children (Blue) Card, which we will assist you to apply for free of charge through our administrative office. For full details of the new requirements and the legislative changes, see link below.

Learning Highlights
Kindy Highlights
This week in Kindergarten, we’ve been diving into the wonderful world under the ocean! The children have been exploring sea life through stories, sensory play, and creative learning experiences that ignite curiosity and imagination.
Our literacy focus has included some ocean-themed favourites such as The Rainbow Fish, The Snail and the Whale, and Commotion in the Ocean. These stories have sparked wonderful discussions about friendship, kindness, and the wonders of marine life. The children have been busy creating their own books, writing words, labelling pictures, and retelling familiar stories using puppets and small world play.
To engage the senses and support fine motor development, we will set up a variety of sensory trays filled with water beads, blue jelly, coloured rice, and even shimmering iridescent shells. These trays have encouraged imaginative play and storytelling, while also offering opportunities to practise pouring, scooping, and sorting.
In numeracy, we’ve been counting shells, creating repeating patterns with sea animals, matching patterned fish, and using ten frames to explore early number concepts. The children have loved using real shells to represent numbers and solve simple problems, helping to build a strong foundation in counting and mathematical thinking.
Our ocean theme has inspired awe and wonder as the children learn more about the sea and the creatures that live within it. Through play, storytelling, and hands-on learning, we are nurturing their creativity, language skills, and a love of learning.

Getting ready for ‘Big School’
Starting school is a major milestone—not just for your child, but for you too! It's completely normal to wonder if your child will be ready for this big step, especially in the year leading up to it.
The good news is school readiness is less about academic skills and more about your child’s ability to manage daily tasks, connect with others, and feel confident and curious in a group setting.
Here’s what really matters in the lead-up to kindergarten—and some easy ways to support it at home.
What do children need to know before starting school?
Children don’t need to know how to read, write, or count to 100 before they start school. Instead, educators look for a range of social, emotional, physical, and communication skills that support a smooth transition into the classroom environment.
Here is what matters most:
Independence: Can your child open their lunchbox, go to the toilet, and pack away toys or books? Can they dress themselves? (Manage zippers, shoes, jumpers) Can they pack and unpack their bag and look after personal belongings?
Social skills: Are they learning to share, take turns, and follow simple instructions? Playing cooperatively with others and engaging in imaginative play.
Emotional regulation: Are they beginning to manage big feelings with support and express needs with words?
Communication: Can they understand and respond to questions and simple instructions? Are they curious and asking questions of their own? Are they listening during stories or group activities.
Cognitive and Early learning skills: Can they recognise their name? Are they interested in books and numbers? Can they identify some colours and shapes? And are they beginning to count small numbers of objects?
Physical skills: Can your child hold a pencil, crayon or paintbrush? Are they learning to use scissors? Are they climbing, jumping and balancing. Do they use fine motor skills like threading, drawing or building?
How Can I Help at Home?
You don’t need to turn your home into a mini classroom. In fact, learning through everyday life and play is the best way to build school readiness. Here are some simple ways to help your child grow in confidence and capability:
Talk Often and Listen Well: Have regular conversations, ask open-ended questions (“What was your favourite part of today?”) and encourage your child to share their thoughts. Language development is a big part of school success.
Read Together Daily: Storytime builds vocabulary, listening skills, imagination, and attention span. Let your child choose books, point to pictures, and talk about what’s happening in the story.
Practice Routines: Help your child become familiar with the kinds of routines they’ll encounter at school—getting dressed in the morning, sitting for a meal, packing up toys, or washing hands before eating.
Encourage Playdates and Group Play: Playing with peers teaches important social lessons: turn-taking, problem-solving, cooperation, and navigating friendships. Even a simple trip to the playground can help build these skills.
Promote Confidence with “I Can Do It!” Tasks: Let your child do small tasks by themselves, even if it takes longer. Practice zipping a jacket, packing snacks into a lunchbox, or putting shoes on the right feet.
Talk About School Positively: If your child is starting school next year, begin to talk about it in gentle, excited ways. “When you go to big school, you’ll have your own lunchbox!” or “I wonder what games you’ll play with your new friends.” Keep it light and reassuring.
Remember: Every Child Develops at Their Own Pace
It’s okay if your child isn’t ticking every box just yet. Kindergarten teachers know that children come in with a range of abilities and experiences. The most helpful thing you can do is support your child with love, patience, and confidence that they’ll grow into their next big adventure.
If you ever have concerns about your child’s development, don’t hesitate to speak with your preschool educator, GP, or child health nurse—they can guide and reassure you.
