A Message From Our Director
Grow With Us…
Have you seen our Tree of Growth? It is on display in our foyer, and is a collaborative space for our community to share suggestions, feedback and information. Through the year, you will see our tree grow and flourish - a depiction of the growth we are experiencing here at CCC Early Learning Centre.
The Tree of Growth is a visual representation of our Quality Improvement Plan (QIP), which is a hardcopy written document, available for reading and input in our parent foyer. The QIP is intended to be a workable, ever-changing document, so we welcome your scribbles and notes on the pages of our QIP. Please feel welcome to sit and add your suggestions and feedback at any time.
Similarly, we invite you to take a moment to stop by our Tree of Growth: read our stories of improvement, and contribute suggestions and feedback for us to add to our tree. Thank you for your valuable contributions to our learning community!

Interesting Learning
Sprouts Learning Story: Super Sharing Superheroes!
To extend on the children’s growing interest in superheroes and special powers, we explored the idea of being a “super sharer” and how our actions can help others. Through discussions and play, the children shared their ideas about different superheroes and what powers they might have. Together, we talked about how sharing, kindness and helping friends can be powerful superhero skills we can all use every day. The children created their own Superman masks, carefully cutting, decorating and designing them to represent their superhero identities. This creative experience supported fine motor development as children practised scissor skills, grip strength and hand–eye coordination. Many children showed focus and persistence as they worked on their masks, proudly sharing their creations with peers and educators.
We also read a story about sharing, which encouraged group discussion and reflection. Children eagerly contributed ideas about times they have shared with friends and how it makes others feel. Wearing their superhero masks, children engaged in imaginative play, acting out scenarios where they used their “super sharing powers” to help others, take turns and work together.
This experience supported children’s social and emotional development by strengthening friendships, promoting empathy and building confidence. It was wonderful to see the children embrace the idea that everyone can be a superhero when they choose to share 🦸♀️✨
We loved seeing our kind, confident superheroes use their powers to make our kindy a happy and caring place.
Parent Resources & Information
ALPHABET KABOOM!
You will need: popsicle sticks, marker and a small bucket of cups
Set up: Write each of the 26 letters of the alphabet on a different popsicle stick. Write the word “Kaboom!” on 6 additional popsicle sticks. Put all the popsicle sticks in a container, with the letters pointing down into the bucket so you can’t see them.
How to Play:
-
- Players take turns picking a popsicle stick out of the bucket and reading the letter on it. (Sometimes we’ll also add in the challenge of saying the sound the letter makes or a word that starts with the letter.)
-
- Each player collects as many popsicle sticks as possible before drawing a “Kaboom!” stick.
-
- If a player draws a “Kaboom!” stick, he or she returns all his/her sticks to the bucket.
- The winner is the player with the most sticks when time runs out (you can set a timer for as long or short as you want).
Variations:
The possibilities are endless with this game:
Family names, sight words, rhyming words (what rhymes with…?), syllables (how many syllables are in…?) basic math facts, telling time, adding money
