A Message From Our Director
Grow With Us...
Over the past fortnight, we have truly seen our Centre flourish as we continue building strong and meaningful connections with our wider community. Families have visited to share their careers and skills with the children, enriching our learning experiences. We also welcomed Mel from Healthy Harold, who helped children learn about their bodies and the importance of respecting personal and safe boundaries. Mel was bright and animated, and had the children thoroughly engaged and excited in their learning!
Our Kindy children enjoyed a wonderful scavenger hunt alongside their Year 5 Primary Friends from CCC, and we were delighted to receive a beautiful delivery of library books from our friends at Gympie Library. If you haven't yet signed up with our local Library, I highly recommend you do: the staff have been kind and generous, and provide a wonderful resource at our fingertips!
Living in a close-knit, historically rich town like Gympie provides incredible opportunities for community connection. However, our greatest resource is you — our parents and families. Your feedback, ideas, talents, culture and experiences are always welcome, and we encourage you to please get in touch to make a time to share with our children.
Thank you for helping make CCC ELC a warm, supportive and inspiring place for our children to learn and grow. Thank you for your warm 'hello' each morning at the admin desk, and your warm greeting and welcome to each other at drop off and pick up.

Cooking Experience with Ms. T
Traditional Jam Drops
Jam Drop Biscuits
Ingredients
- 125g salted butter, softened
- 100g (½ cup) caster sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla essence
- 1 egg
- 190g (1¼ cups) self-raising flour, sifted
- Plain flour, for dusting
- 115g (⅓ cup) strawberry or raspberry jam
Method
Step 1 – Prepare the dough
Preheat the oven to 180°C and line two baking trays with non-stick baking paper. In a medium bowl, use an electric beater to beat the 125g softened butter, 100g caster sugar, and 1 tsp vanilla essence until pale and creamy. Add the egg and beat until well combined. Sift the 190g (1¼ cups) self-raising flour over the mixture and stir until a soft dough forms.
Step 2 – Shape the biscuits
Lightly dust your hands with plain flour. Roll teaspoonfuls of dough into balls and place them on the prepared trays, about 5 cm apart. Use a lightly floured finger to press an indentation into the centre of each ball. Spoon about ½ teaspoon of strawberry or raspberry jam into each indentation.
Step 3 – Bake
Bake for 15 minutes, swapping the trays halfway through cooking, until the biscuits are light golden and cooked through. Remove from the oven and leave the biscuits to cool on the trays for about 30 minutes, or until completely cooled.
Interesting Learning
Learning Story: Little Earth Helpers - Sprouts
To celebrate Clean Up Australia Day, we explored the important idea of caring for our Earth and how even small actions can make a big difference. During our group discussion, the children shared thoughtful ideas about ways we can help keep our world clean and healthy. Many children suggested picking up rubbish, putting things in the bin, recycling, and looking after plants and animals. It was wonderful to hear the children thinking about how their actions can help protect the Earth.
To extend this learning, the children participated in a creative craft activity where we made a beautiful Earth. Each child contributed by painting the world, and then we added pictures of the children holding the Earth in their hands. This symbolised how we all share the responsibility of caring for our planet.
This hands-on experience supported the development of fine motor skills as children practised cutting, gluing and placing pieces carefully onto their artwork. Many children showed concentration and pride as they worked together to create something meaningful. As we worked, we continued to talk about how we can look after the Earth every day, both at kindy and at home.
The children were excited to share their ideas and felt proud to be “Earth helpers.” Through this experience, they began to understand that caring for our environment is something everyone can be part of. It was beautiful to see the children recognise that their small actions can help make our world a cleaner, kinder place for everyone.
We loved seeing our kindy children working together to care for our planet and becoming thoughtful little guardians of the Earth 🌱✨
Parent Resources & Information
Stretch & Breathe
A short simple activity to get some active minutes in the day.
This gentle movement activity is a lovely way for families to slow down and reconnect at the end of the day.
Find a quiet space, stand or sit together, and move slowly through each action.
Try:
- Reach arms up high and stretch tall, then lower them slowly
- Bend down and touch toes or reach toward the floor
- Roll shoulders forwards and backwards
- Gently twist side to side
- Finish by taking three slow, deep breaths together
Encourage children to notice how their bodies feel as they move and breathe. This activity supports calm bodies, emotional regulation, and helps children transition from busy days into relaxed evenings. It’s a simple way to build healthy movement and mindfulness into everyday family routines.
