Music @ the ELC

Music at the Early Learning Centre is a joyful and engaging part of our program, delivered by a qualified music teacher who understands the developmental needs of young children. Through singing, rhythm, movement, and instrument play, music enhances children’s cognitive, physical, emotional, and social development. It supports early language and literacy by building listening skills, expanding vocabulary, and encouraging expressive communication. Music also promotes fine and gross motor development as children clap, dance, and play instruments, while fostering creativity and imagination.

Engaging in regular music experiences builds confidence and supports routines, helping children feel secure and connected. It also encourages cooperation and turn-taking, laying the foundation for positive social interactions. As children learn to follow instructions, participate in group activities, and express themselves, they are developing important skills that support a smooth and confident transition to school.

Aligned with the Early Years Learning Framework, music helps children build a strong sense of identity, wellbeing, and belonging. It provides opportunities to make meaning, communicate ideas, and connect with others in playful and purposeful ways. At our ELC, music is not only fun—it is a vital tool in supporting each child’s holistic development and lifelong love of learning.
